Job Duties:

Summary

Designs, plans, and documents the RF communications systems working from customer requirements and applying available technology, primarily based on the Client products and capabilities.  Applications may derive from customer needs, requests for proposals, marketing product needs or new applications within current systems.  The job entails working all aspects of the RF system design and deployment from initial engineering contact with customers, development of specifications, working with engineering on system design, testing, deployment, and support of the resulting RF system.

 

Major Duties:

1.     Performs RF studies in support of PTC deployment and other applications as directed.

2.     Performs RF field studies to validate RF computer-based modeling and RF propagation modeling.

3.     Develops new RF communications system designs or perform RF modeling to insert a transceiver into an existing system.

4.     Develops RF-related requirements and specifications for new systems or system sections.

5.     Works with engineering on the design and implementation of the system.

6.     Works with the system test and the customer to assure the resulting design meets all needs.

7.     Supports documentation, training, deployment, operation and maintenance of the new system.

8.     Provides other engineering support as required.  For example, assist in the definition of requirements of other hardware as required.

 

Job Skills:

·         Must have a solid understanding of software and hardware engineering.

·         Must understand radio software and hardware operations/capabilities in order to access the degree of difficulty in implementing a requirement.

·         Able to determine the cost of implementing selected design approaches.

·         Must be able to envision new ways to apply products and capabilities to solve new needs.

·         Required to work well with customers on testing, deployment, training and operation of the new system.

·         Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment.

·         Excellent time management and organizational skills with an ability to balance multiple priorities.

·         Ability to work well with engineers and technical people.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Ability to self-manage and exhibit grace under pressure.

·         Strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
